THE EIGHT (8) LETTER WORDS OF GREAT ACHIEVERS!
If you find a path with no obstacles, it probably doesn’t lead any-where”
– Frank A. Clark
Today’s world is filled with opportunities, chance, luck and untold achievements. But still a few people are the ones benefiting from this great provision available.
These chosen few have the determination and tenacity to break through the yoke of poverty and excel in developing their intellectual capacity to the fullest.
This Article is focused on sharing the ideas, experience and experiments of these few people in order to benefit from their knowledge and be able to develop ourselves towards their glorious status.
This Article will discuss the Eight (8) letter words of great Achievers, are you ready to become one?
(1) H – Humans fail or succeed by virtue of their thoughts and actions they choose.
It is a known fact that “an idle mind is the devil’s workshop” and an empty mind will produce nothing meaningful.
Your success or failure depends largely on what you think, how you think and how much action you take on your thoughts. Henrik Ibsen said “A thousand words will not leave so deep an impression as one deed”. Your action will be used to judge you and not your thoughts. so, whatever you think, act now because tomorrow is meant for another task.
(2) A – A man is not finished when defeated, he is when he quits.
“Winners never quit and quitters never win”. No matter your present status, condition or circumstance, you must continue to move ahead because the day and night will come and your existence in the world will continue to diminish.
Great Achievers don’t quit when the going gets tough, they stand backup and fight. John wooden says “Don’t let what you can’t do stop you from doing what you can do”.
Challenges will always come, it is the man who surmounts them that emerges victorious. “There is no victory without a battle”. So no matter where the shoe pinches, be hopeful for a better tomorrow.
(3) R – Reason is a wise man’s guide, example is for the fool.
The mind is the greatest asset given to man by God and the Chief task of the mind is thinking and reasoning. That is why the best thinkers are the greatest Achievers in the world.
Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Dangote, Lincoln,Obafemi Awolowo, are all great thinkers that have achieved remarkable feats through their dreams of reasoning and defied all suggestions of negative examples of similar failures before their time.
As an aspiring Achiever, you need to see reason and develop your mind to work extra hard on developing positive thinking and reasoning skills. And that is why the great Achiever Theodore Roosevelt said “what we need is more people who specialize in the impossible”.
(4) D – “Don’t say something is impossible, until you have done it by yourself.”
Impossibility is the most negative word in existence, but nothing is impossible when measured within your capacity. Everything that has been achieved through technology today was once impossible. The cars, the ships, the trains, the jet, the internet and countless other achievements were once impossible.
I believe “The secret of achievement is not in making it once; people achieve their dreams gradually and eventually get to the promised destination”.
When you are faced with a difficult task, pray for the strength to tackle it and succeed. Don’t finalize on an issue until you have done your very best to face the challenge. And also remember, that there are others that can help you through with getting your dream accomplished, seek them in order to be successful.
(5) W – Without courage, all other virtues lose their meaning.
Christopher Columbus said “You can never cross the ocean unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore”.
Losing sight of everything is the only way towards greatness, you must not mind what people think about your job, you must not go into debt because you want to impress people and show them that you’re also in vogue. For you to benefit tomorrow you must sacrifice today.
I believe “Satisfaction, fulfillment, comfort and delight, only come on the altar of sacrifice.”
You must learn to sacrifice your wants for your needs so that you can eventually use them to achieve what you want.
You must be persistent; your focus must not wear-off or change direction. No matter the hits you are getting, you must not falter in you resolve to succeed.
Confucius Admonishes that “our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall”.
Develop strength, strong enough to see you through your challenges. Every great Achiever is outstanding and courageous.
(6) O – Optimism is the faith that leads to achievements.
“Progress is the activity of today and the assurance of tomorrow”. These words from Ralph Waldo Emerson are true to the earth be-cause without activities today, then there is no hope for tomorrow.
Whatever we do today is intended to improve our lives tomorrow, we sleep today and hope to wake up hale and hearty tomorrow, we go to school today in order to become respectable tomorrow, we get married today to have children tomorrow.
All our lives, we have been living on hope and optimism, then why do we lack the optimism to become wealthy and great?
And as Samuel Johnson which says “Life affords no higher pleasure than that of surmounting difficulty, passing from one step of success to another, forming new wishes, and seeing them gratified. He says that labour in any great or laudable undertaking has its fatigues, first supported by hope and afterwards rewarded by joy… to strive with difficulties and to conquer them, is the highest human felicity”.
(7) R – Risk is part of everything.
“Life is a risk”. Every day we wake up and go out in all forms of transportation, the bus, the taxi, the motorcycles, the train; we risk eating at eateries cafeterias, restaurants, we take soft drinks which might have been contaminated, bottled water that may be produced under unhygienic conditions etc.
Risk is the greatest threat to life and still the most important part of living, because without risk, man would achieve nothing and we probably would have been extinct by now.
Great Achievers risk everything, Dr. Ben Carson wrote a book titled “Take the Risk” where he shared his daily routine of risks that have saved thousands and brought hope to the hopeless.
To become an Achiever, you must be ready to risk. Do not look back once you have started, do not nurse regrets, do not lose hope, when you are hit, say yes to any opportunity that comes your way.
I am not talking about gambling or betting risks, which is foolishness.
Am only trying to make you see reasons why you should take that step towards achieving your dream. Do not let anyone discourage you, you want to sell bean cakes on campus and think it will boom, then do it. Starts up now, try that idea and you may never tell. It may just work out fine.
Remember “Don’t wait for something big to occur. Start where you are with what you have, and that will always lead you into something greater”.
(8) K – Knowledge is Power.
“Don’t buy when you can lease, don’t lease when you can rent, don’t rent when you can borrow, don’t borrow when you can beg, don’t beg when you can have it free.” – Dr. Abib Olamitoye.
You must search for the right idea, the right price, the right place, the right way to do it, the right words to use and the right people to share your ideas with.
